CityPlace Tower adds new private entry for Cleveland Clinic

West Palm Beach, Fla.    April 8, 2010

CityPlace Office Tower on Okeechobee Boulevard in Downtown West Palm Beach is breaking down barriers, literally. The 18-story Class-A tower announced that it will construct a new entrance on the north side of the building specifically for Cleveland Clinic Florida that will offer patients direct, convenient access to their medical offices. The addition will accommodate the high level of visitor traffic that the world-renowned medical facility has seen since officially opening its Health and Wellness Center in November 2008. Cleveland Clinic, which currently occupies 16,840 sq. ft. of space on the 14th floor and an additional 2,146 sq. ft. on the ground level, has had nearly 40,000 appointments scheduled to date, meeting its patient growth projections for the year.

“When we decided to expand into Palm Beach County, we chose CityPlace Office Tower for its first-class amenities and central location.  The growth in patient numbers, even in the off-season, is increasing quickly and the private entrance will offer our patients even faster access to our unique model of medicine,” said Bernie Fernandez, MD, Chief Executive Officer of Cleveland Clinic Florida.

In addition to the new entrance, Cleveland Clinic will expand another 9,754 sq. ft. of space on the 14th floor to accommodate additional internists and specialists in sports medicine, pulmonary services and gastroenterology. The expansion of the 14th floor is scheduled to be complete in October 2010.

The CityPlace location currently has nine physicians based in West Palm Beach, representing internal medicine, neurology, urology, endocrinology, gynecology, colorectal surgery and cardiology. Physicians representing nine other specialties, including hand and plastic surgery rotate from the Weston campus as needed. The Cleveland Clinic Florida Health and Wellness Center also features diagnostic areas dedicated to bone density, ultrasound, mammography and general x-ray and imaging services. An imaging center located on the first floor offers MRI and CT scan services.

CityPlace Office Tower is a joint venture between Related Companies, L.P. of New York, developers of Time Warner Center in New York City and CityPlace in West Palm Beach, and Boca Raton-based Crocker Partners, developers of Mizner Park and Boca Center. Designed by Elkus/Manfredi Architects of Boston, the $110 million project is the first Class-A office building to be constructed in West Palm Beach since 1989 and the only building in the city built to post-Hurricane Andrew construction standards. Less than two years after officially opening its doors, the office tower is now more than 85 percent leased.  It is anchored by the institutional money management firm INTECH, formerly based in Palm Beach Gardens. The firm occupies the top two floors, totaling more than 50,000 square feet. Other major tenants besides Cleveland Clinic Florida include the West Palm Beach office of Carlton Fields, P.A.; the global law firm of Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge; Regions Bank; intellectual property law firm Novak Druce + Quigg; Shutts & Bowen LLP; The Comvest Group; RBC Wealth Management; Raymond James & Associates; Goodrich, LLC; Neuberger Berman; Carey O’Donnell Public Relations Group; Callisto Partners; and Barry & Company, CPA.
